Mostly Nature Photography
Sometimes something else
For some reason unbeknownst to me I was the only human on Hemlock Path at sunrise during peak foliage. Instead I was surrounded by the local population of white tails, this one had an entertaining little frolic through the meadow.

A random beech on the Gaspé Peninsula, washed up driftwood, an unconsidered tied, and a couple looking for driftwood. Many happy accidents lined up perfectly to pull this image together.

A few weeks ago I went down to Hemlock Path to recreate my photo from last year with the new boardwalk. I ended up off a little bit with the camera situated a foot or two too high. I got a bit distracted by a deer prancing around me.

Normally this tree stand turns and drops their leaves at the same time, but this year the rest dropped their leaves and one tree held most of them.

No matter how many times I wander through the pink granite cliffs of Acadia’s shore path area I always find new compositions in the ever changing shapes of the stone.

I took this image of Hemlock path in Acadia last year before they added the boardwalk to better manage drainage. Hopefully I'll be able to time it right to take the same composition with the boardwalk this year.

This is one of the first images I took at Île Bonaventure of a Gannet returning to its cliff top nest with nesting seaweed to help pad the nest.

While we were walking on the beach in Percé, QC we saw this common eider close to shore swimming in the waves. I snapped some quick shots as she swam and then moved along. Later when I imported the photos into Lightroom I saw she caught a small crab.

I took this image on a very rainy day in Killarney just outside of Muckross Abby. While walking around the roads the clouds thinned and let through just enough light to create this scene.

This may be one of the most photographed sites in New Brunswick. I’ve been here many times and never came away with anything I was super proud of. This time I noticed some vegetation that was about to go under the rising tide and was able to come away with this image.

We went looking for lupines we hadn't yet seen and ended up at the most eastern point of the continental
US. I got some wet feet and this image came together.

This is my entry into Maine’s June Lupine craze. We took a trip Downeast and found a few different patches of Lupines. Ironically my favorite image of the ship had nothing to do with lupines. I’ll share that one later.

My first Milky Way shot of the season, I was planning for a different rock formation, but the ocean took it away from me, so I found this new one. Foreground is from blue hour Milky Way is 12 frames blended to reduce noise.

We got to compare ospreys fishing to seagulls this weekend who had trouble fishing for the ale wives even when they got stuck on the beach. The Ospreys would dive, catch a fish then high tail it out of there before the seagulls or eagle tried to steal their lunch.

I was facing the wind with all that ocean spray coming directly at my lens. I had to keep a cloth over the lens and pull it off at the perfect moment to snap a shot before sea spray covered the lens. Fortunately the spray made the sun look cool.

I met this lone sand piper during their migration last September in Funday. Up the mud flat a bit there were thousands, but this adventurous one decided to come down closer to the people.

This is Dunmore Head one of the points on the Dingle peninsula. After the walk we headed over to “Europe’s most westerly pub” for a bite. See as I live not too far from “America’s most easterly Irish pub” it was a fun experience.

After the weather drove us from the high places and the severity of the crowds drove us from the low places in New Hampshire. We returned to our home turf and took a sunrise stroll up past the Bowl to find a quieter autumn moment. Here's one of the images I captured.
