We would do well to stop talking about this as an incoherent or even immoral philosophy that needs to be defeated at the level of reason. It’s irrelevant that the current philosophy of white supremacy is incoherent or ethically deficient. It’s not meant to achieve these goals.

The current emphasis by the administration on redefining who is American and who isn’t, is just the latest example of the trend Malcolm X observed, “Racism is like a Cadillac, they bring out a new model every year.”

One example of this is that the definition of who was legally white under British rule would be one thing in the American colonies and another in Jamaica at the same time. It just depended how much of a labor-managing middle class of whites was required.
