www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... The most recent figures I had from 2022 said unpaid carers provided £163 billion in donated labour to the country.

This article reveals a more recent figure from 2024 to be £184 billion. A rise of £19 billion in two years.

Something is about to happen.

#DisabilityBenefits cuts are not just cruel.

They are stupid and cruel.
Hi Owen, please let people know this: www.carersuk.org/press-releas... This is research updating work by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation over a decade ago. It was utterly ignored but shows that any policy decision impacting carers and those they care for can never be a net saving.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Well if we needed an example of how badly the media 'get' #BenefitCuts, what do you think this article means by 'work'?

Does it work for the claimants?
What effect does it have on them?

Sorry, it doesn't even consider those part of the question.
Does cutting benefits work?
The government is to set out details of how it will save billions of pounds from the working welfare bill.

A thread about #DisabilityBenefits which Starmer's government are trying to cut, using contradictory, vague and outright untruthful reasons.

First, their only concrete reason is cost. This is not a moral reason, so they have to attempt to give some, which fall apart on their own terms.
