They tried to force us (Adelaide University) to create an 8 course "common core" for the BA. We refused. But we will have three "university-wide common core courses" (one each year) and three "work integrated learning courses" (one each year). This eliminates almost all spaces for elective courses.

This will also be the rule for Adelaide University. We are only allowed to develop 8 courses for the 8-course degree core, and we are only allowed to develop 8 course for each 8-course discipline major. That makes those 16 courses compulsory. And we have to teach the same 16 courses all the time.

I've been calling it "predictive text on steroids" for a long time now (at seminars, lectures and public talks), and that expression hits the mark (and clarifies things for audiences) every time.

This photo is a total misrepresentation of Rundle Mall. I live in the CBD and walk through the mall regularly, and I can assure you there are lots of tree cover (and building shade on both sides). That photo is either old (when the trees were very little) or taken from a very misleading perspective.
