Being as charitable as possible here, I read him as suggesting the causal relationship is the other way around—the name wasn’t picked because of Woke Pacifism but the less manly and tough name caused the military to become soy.

I think at some level it’s an unexamined, unarticulated intuition that “I bet Schumer could sneak a weapon into a meeting with the guy”

People get furious when you suggest that like “oh are we just going to abandon all the LGBT people in Alabama” or wherever but at this point, yeah maybe we can’t save everyone.

And that’s the key: the ACA money would have gone away when they “caved” by killing the filibuster anyway. The only thing to be gained here was tricking the Republicans into killing the filibuster—which many Senate Dems don’t actually want, so obviously they aren’t willing to starve people to get it

I had no idea who Jackie Rosen was 48 hours ago and I probably won’t remember her name 48 hours from now. Even now I’m not 100% sure what state she’s from or if I have her first name right.

I don’t think Lucas has or had hate in his heart but he did mix and match some imagery and tropes in those prequels that have some very unsavory history. (See also: Watto)
