Being as charitable as possible here, I read him as suggesting the causal relationship is the other way around—the name wasn’t picked because of Woke Pacifism but the less manly and tough name caused the military to become soy.

I think at some level it’s an unexamined, unarticulated intuition that “I bet Schumer could sneak a weapon into a meeting with the guy”

UGH MEN

People get furious when you suggest that like “oh are we just going to abandon all the LGBT people in Alabama” or wherever but at this point, yeah maybe we can’t save everyone.
November 11, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Yes every clause of that is true.

And that’s the key: the ACA money would have gone away when they “caved” by killing the filibuster anyway. The only thing to be gained here was tricking the Republicans into killing the filibuster—which many Senate Dems don’t actually want, so obviously they aren’t willing to starve people to get it

I had no idea who Jackie Rosen was 48 hours ago and I probably won’t remember her name 48 hours from now. Even now I’m not 100% sure what state she’s from or if I have her first name right.

People get furious when I bring it up, like it means I’m on Trump’s side to point out that the reins of power were quietly taken away from him.

The Crown Prince will take a second wife, in the first official ceremony to be held in the Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk Memorial Ballroom.

I even knew almost all of what you were explaining already, I just assumed the Leader had some ability to control or at least fire the Whip
November 11, 2025 at 3:16 AM
Yes that part I knew
November 11, 2025 at 3:08 AM
I thought at least within caucus leadership there’d be some control
November 11, 2025 at 3:05 AM
Great, it’s even dumber than I thought
November 11, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Those might actually be racist on purpose, actually, there’s even less plausible deniability there.
November 11, 2025 at 12:53 AM
Ezra Klein, mainly
November 11, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Yeah it’s mainly because he’s the Woke Host on a Star Trek podcast.
November 11, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Yeah the Whip voting against the Leader without instantly losing his position completely invalidates Schumer’s “hey I voted against it, I’m as mad as you folks!” act; you should be insulted they expect you to buy it.

I don’t think Lucas has or had hate in his heart but he did mix and match some imagery and tropes in those prequels that have some very unsavory history. (See also: Watto)

Blocked for liking the prequels, shut up zoomer

Churches without catechism or a Protestant equivalent lead to believers with a folk (mis)understanding of important concepts as reductive as any reddit atheist.

On the other hand, I’ve always said Nog should not have been allowed to serve in Starfleet as the son of a foreign head of state.

Basically: the book is very important to and famous among philosophers, but is infamously very very difficult to understand.
