After Drew died in 1825, Billy was bought by Charley Aistrop the owner of Westminster Pit. When Billy retired (1828) Tom Cribb cared for him at his Pub the Union Arms in Haymarket until Billy died in 1829. The Rat Killing Dog was then stuffed & displayed at Westminster Pit

The ‘Rat Killing Dog,’ Billy was a white & tan Terrier who famously killed 100 rats in 6 1/2min during a ‘Rat Bait’ in 1823. His owner Charles Drew was Office Keeper & Messenger for the Queen’s Square Police Office & often exhibited Billy at Westminster Pit.

5Dec1831 ‘London Burkers’ John Bishop & Thomas Williams are hung at Newgate in front of 30,000 spectators for the murder of a young boy to sell his body (‘Italian Boy’ murder). Bishop admits stealing & selling an additional 500-1000 bodies over a 12yr period.
