There's a machine that produces infinite hardboiled eggs ie a yolk tube surrounded by a white tube, for industrial gala pie production. Surely that could be adapted.

Just seen this so probably too late. But preemptive analgesia is good. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen will stave off the pain more effectively if taken before the pain starts.

As someone who's done a couple of pretty substantial career shifts, I'd recommend prof Herminia Ibarra's book 'Working Identity'. She has some excellent advice on how to shift careers, and also how weird and disorienting it feels whilst you're doing it.
