The Architectural Association next to Bedford Square Gardens has a great architecture/design/urbanism bookshop.

Tons of parking lots! But it’s not all bad. Check out the Nasher Sculpture Center if you have time. It’s great. The cattle stampede sculpture in Pioneer Park is cool, too.
