For the sake of the artists who labored over every frame, and for the fans who cherish the beauty of this show, I urge you to re-transcode the entire series properly with the care it deserves.

The horrible transcode not only ruins the intent of the cinematography, but it distracts from the overall mise-en-scène. The rushed, sloppy restoration is antithetical to the care and craftsmanship that made Mad Men the gold standard for its era of television.

Massive compression artifacts dominate every single shot. The image is so aggressively compressed that the original 35mm film grain—the very texture of the show—has been obliterated.

The VFX goofs are bad, but what chaps my hide are the omnipresent compression artifacts that are evident in every single frame. The gorgeous film grain is being obliterated by the heavy-handed compression. I'd rather watch my blu-ray copy than this macroblocky schlock.

No OLED and no Half-Life at launch? What a bummer. The later was wishful thinking, but I really thought Valve would have used an OLED screen this time. I wish them success with the headset and hope they’ll eventually launch an OLED version.

Cool, I like Cage well enough, and I love psychedelia, so this sounds up my alley! Thanks for the rec and looking forward to Keeper!

Not familiar with that one. Worth a watch?

True, I see this as the evil cousin of one of his creations.

That’s well-deserved praise. From the gorgeous retro art direction to the psychedelic modular synth soundtrack, I loved soaking in the ambiance of this game. Sometimes I’d just zone out on the title screen for a spell. You all nailed it with this one.

People are still playing Galaxies?? Far out. I was one of the original testers on that game eons ago. My favorite things to test were the dance moves. 😄 MTFBWY!

@timoflegend.bsky.social Tim Schafer. A local treasure here in SF. Hilarious, brilliant video game designer, and a good human being.

Woo hoo! I had a hunch you’d come back after the election. 😉
