I love Beverley - I gather the Retford & District Historical & Archaeological Society are planning a visit out to Beverley in the coming summer. Which goes to show that Beverley's interest reaches many.

Retford had some great bands play at The Porterhouse through the 70s and 80s - some of my favourite bands have played there: The Cramps, Soft Cell, Hanoi Rocks, Def Leppard, Talk Talk, New Order, The Adverts, Gang of Four and could go on

Yes, my rough thinking has been that Stephen may have been worn down by 20 years of conflict and, faced by the young and fierce Henry, perhaps went with discretion as the better part of valour ? It'd be great to sometimes be able to spend 5 minutes watching into a key part of history as it happened.

It's quite difficult to judge character when we only have outcomes to go on and don't know terribly clearly which personal factors they may have been weighing up in making certain decisions.
