Another time, I was on a train and Pete Postlethwaite sat down opposite me with another bloke. They sat there and chatted and maybe 5 stops later he asked me if this was Shrewsbury (or some other stop on the Marches line I don't remember exactly). I said "Yes it is", because it was.

It's great for women and society (to have people doing what they want to do not what society thinks) but it's a massive problem economically as we have fewer people doing work to pay for more older people's pensions. We do not yet have a solution for that.

Cars were much dirtier then as well, and they also spewed lead everywhere. If you go back to ancient primitive societies they were breathing in loads of smoke all the time because they didn't have chimneys in their houses. Two steps forwards, one step back.

A lot of toxins were introduced during the industrial revolution where in cities and towns air quality was far worse than it is now. Wood and coal smoke are significant pollutants and everyone was using them to heat their homes. Factories and mines produced horrendous pollution.
