Daulton Varsho won last year, and Andres Gimenez before that. I think it will always be an up the middle defender, though.

You'd have to ask SIS and MLB about that. I've found that both models are extremely noisy (defense is noisy in general) and that a weighted blend beats either on its own, though.

Unfortunately adding more and more types of pitches that opposing pitchers could bounce makes him look like less of an outlier. But now, tell me about what Logan O'Hoppe is doing to make pitchers throw him all these nasty breaking balls when he's a so-so blocker

The shortstops left in the playoffs include Mookie Betts and JP Crawford, too. Aren't they both about as 'glue guy' as it gets?
