Calling out the racism of a 1970s movie with a white only cast is fair tho.

He's reacting to it as science-fiction when it's space fantasy. It's a fairy tale! It's like critiquing "Jack & the Beanstalk" over the physics of castles in the clouds or geese laying gold eggs, or "Little Red Riding Hood" over a wolf being able to talk. Would love to hear his takes on Greek myths.

Putting it on D+ would have further expenses because then they'd have to pay royalties, union rates, residuals, etc. for streaming content that they don't have to pay for free YouTube "promotional" content. That's why they moved "Jedi Temple Challenge" to YT from an original plan of D+. Saves $$.

Is it AI-generated or is it from users? Or does Disney+ have AI users?

It is its own chain of events and it's own timeline within the universe, it's not tied to the timeline of the Skywalkers or the Jedi or the Empire or the Sith or the Mandalorian or other established events or movements. It's not part 12 of a 20-part story or chain of events...it is its own timeline.

As they've said in other interviews and statements, "new timeline" is shorthand for "new part of the timeline" (i.e. not during the original trilogy and the reign of the Empire, or during the sequel trilogy and the rise of the First Order, or otherwise tied to the events we've seen play out before).

What’s the competition here? And why would they even be fighting? Gotta know their motivations and the context before calling a winner.

The list only includes characters that originated in TV, not characters that appeared in movies first. That's why there's no Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Mon Mothma, Cassian Andor, Boba Fett, Leia Organa, Yoda, Mace Windu, or Ashoka Tano. They all debuted in movies.

"I hope Disney doesn't listen to fans" says a fan on a podcast in hopes that Disney listens to them.

Star Wars is more than merchandise and movies. It's a modern mythology. Those myths do not belong to the executives and shareholders. To say that if the corporation dies, the myths die, is vanity.

How is getting multiple/different stories "punishing" fans?

From scene 1 you know the outcome...so?

Same could be said for Titanic, Lincoln, Hamilton, Selma, Apollo 13, The Ten Commandments, Amadeus, Gandhi, The Hobbit, Star Wars episodes I-III, or really any prequel. It's about the journey, not the destination. Story is more compelling than just plot.

They can't stop production... it wrapped back in December 2024.

As Mon Mothma stated in Return of the Jedi, the Bothan spies provided data that pinpointed the exact location of the second Death Star (plus the intel that the weapon systems were not yet operational and that the Emperor himself was onboard). They had nothing to do with stealing the plans.

And here I thought the Star Wars prequels were the Star Wars of the 2000s.

I absolutely love The Acolyte but I don't understand this data. How is Andor not even in the top 10 for Disney+ but shows that ended months ago are? Are people really that late to the party?

Gilroy’s so-called “dismissiveness” toward parts of SW feels misread. It’s not disdain—it’s simply lampshading. He's self-aware, even self-deprecating, but still respectful. Same spirit as George Lucas's “it’s just a movie for kids” or Harrison Ford's “who cares” attitudes about parts of the lore.
