i had no idea that bc's history of goat-themed roadside attractions extends back to the interwar years and the "el bar ranch" on the pacific highway in surrey.

there were also halloween riots in toronto, kingston, and prince george in this period, but the one in north van generated a lot of commentary and analysis from an array of experts and interested parties. plus lots of letters to the editor in following days and weeks...

On Tuesday Sept 30 there's going to be a showing of "Cold Journey" (1975) at the Revue Cinema on Roncesvalles Ave, followed by a Q&A session about residential schools, the NFB, and Indigenous film-making in 1960s and 1970s Canada.
