Capitalism is dependent on an ever expanding war machine

Capitalism has made this man a trillionaire. Can we be honest now that it’s not a real and effective way of organising social relations.

Other than noting the obvious patheticness of this, I note the figure on the left is wearing a replica Dr. Who sweater-vest from Sylvester McCoy’s “bring down the [tory] government” era. Just totally went over his huge bonce I imagine.

Our fishbone cactus is happier than usual this year. The whole room smells amazing because of these flowers.

I’m not a numbers guy but this seems very bad

Always good to see the Men of the Left™️ in action

Going to tell my grandkids that this is Michel Foucault

The Met says they are well up for mass arresting and imprisoning pensioners. I hope that disabuses people of the notion that there is some grander project of ‘protecting’ or ‘serving’ communities.

You would have to say that, if there is such a thing, the telos of our society is injustice.

Are the spurious claims presented in this, laundered by the claimants status as a freed hostage, worth presenting in the way BBC do here?
July 30, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Chris Mason here on the bbc website doing the subtle ideological work of making those who quietly (and with cowardice) support the benefits bill seem reasonable and level headed, whilst vocal, moral opposition to the bill is painted as noisy, irrational and naive.

Maybe I’m being a dick but isn’t this precisely the facade of respectability politics (credible? Fuck off!) that tells you that this guy and his ideas are perfectly palatable to the powerful in society?

Cool! But is the Lion trapped behind bards?

He’s such a ghoul

oh good, we’re doing teenage boy reading of Nietzsche again. This fascism, just like the old fascism. A repugnant celebration of white masculine power.

Liz Kendall came last place in the Labour leadership election in 2014 with less than 10% of the vote and she’s spouting the same old shite that made her so popular back then.

Found this passage from Sohn-Rethel really clarifying vis-a-vis the quasi-naturalism of the capitalist division of labour.

The best film I‘ve watched in 2025 so far and I suspect for a lot of 2025 yet to come. Moving without being saccharine, made with intention without being didactic.

Going to get these prepped to linocut today, I think

Wondering how the events of the LA fires and its hierarchies of who counts will inflect my reading of this book and vice-versa. Just arrived today from @versobooks.bsky.social

The worlds that need saving and the excluded bodies demanded to save it. Fuck American empire.

A world ’worth‘ saving vs. the lives worth risking
January 10, 2025 at 7:55 AM
Can’t wait for the Hollywood sign to be burned up, half remembered junk rather than the key signifier of America (as world built on disavowed exploitation and empire) it is afforded here. There are other worlds to save here, surely!
