optimistic Humanism crumbles under the reality of greed. I want to believe the moral arc of the universe bends towards justice. But the moral arc of my almost 40 years points to chaos and cruelty.

The hope of heaven after death sounds really nice

Which makes me think about my religious roots. I was taught this world was evil and needed saving. Was taught to pine for heaven and a return to god. Then got inspired by Obama and sjw Christianity, and then later by Bernie and economic justice. But now 🤷🏻‍♂️

But also, short of retreating into my village and my own bodily experience, I don’t see many reasons to be hopeful. evil billionaires control the government and the internet. I can’t even type that on any app without making them richer
