So true. A few years ago I wanted to buy a nice hair brush for my wife. After a couple of days of research, it felt like unless I bought this specific type of brush for 200€ with that kind of bristle and I don't know what else I was stupid and my wife's hair would burn on fire.

You should check Ashlee Vance's video on his Core Memory channel regarding a company (Impulse Labs) that make electric stoves with batteries to work around the lack of power and "fine tuning"

I mean dubbed by the way, not CCs added. Can't get the original audio unless I open YouTube app.

Not sure. Hasn't that been the norm for years, except for the internet years? Your life was pretty managed by society (and you had limited options available) until recently. Having to choose everything can be overwhelming for a lot of people and an off-the-shelf lifestyle can look attractive.

When I installed Linux for the first time 20 years ago or signed up to Mastodon a few months ago it felt dull, not adventurous. And I didn't hit a wall, but a maze of things you are supposed to and know how to do. Yes, they are the "right" option, but don't expect people to go through that.

I signed up to Mastodon a few months ago and I couldn't figure out what you are supposed to do, how to find people or content. I gave up because well, I wasn't bothered enough to figure it out.

Felt similar to installing Linux.
