Yeah, "The Greens are looney" is a waaaaaay more mainstream view than seems statistically expectable.
"Look at this crazy out-there tax plan!" when it was essentially the same as Australia's was a good recent-ish example.

Yeah, and clearly the original produced some indelible iconography, which I guess is how we got here.
But it's quite a weird and unique situation. "We're going to remake *this very specific existing remake*". Perhaps there's room to approximate it somewhere one day in the Yojimbo space.

2) So it's quite interesting thinking about say, being Herzog or Eggers and deciding to remake Nosferatu instead of just remaking Dracula, in terms of marketing (a different title!), what they see as the differences, the OG being a classic *film* that inspires rather than a classic *story*, etc.

1) Absolutely! There's nothing new under the sun. I don't begrudge anything that's a "fresh twist on a new formula" etc.
Nosferatu I would say though is a bit different in that it really is just ... Dracula. Almost exactly. To the point it nearly got wiped out for infringing the copyright.

...also I know you've got a template you've got to follow and all Count Orlok, but come to think of it, I've got questions about your sea voyage from Romania to Germany.

It is OUTRAGEOUS how much better Cobra Kai is than a description of what it is would probably have you believe.
And it all has an extremely healthy sense of its own ridiculousness, too. It is a lot of fun.
TV assholes: Pierce from Community, Baltar from BSG, Quark in DS9, Frank in M*A*S*H.

Conway looked sooooo scratchy last night, that one amazing ramp aside. Sadly after a great start to his career, I think all the backroom analysts in international cricket worked out he's got nothing without some width/when it's coming back into him, and he just hasn't been able to adjust.

...sobering realisation: the Transformers movie Anthony Hopkins was in came out in 2017, which meant today's Bluesky star was 10 at the time and this reference would in fact still possibly be lost on her

Not sure where to look. The pizza box eating the bowl of chips? The Exorcist turn with the guitar? David Schwimmer's voice doppelganger speaking in tongues? Coming through a spare door and going to a spare couch with a spare set of friends? Mitosis of generic blonde women in green tank tops?
