I lead an incredible team building voting machines everyone can trust. https://voting.works

Optimistic about judicious uses of tech. Systems, security, privacy, cryptography, and the web are my jam.

Wait. What was that book about again?

Look I'm biased, but this NYT summary of Robert Redford in Sneakers feels way off the mark.

Then comes the most interesting part of the system: results reporting.

The machines each print a tally report at the end of the night. The report includes a QR code that encodes the results data.

13yo soccer match, other team didn't show, they asked parents to complete teams for scrimmage, then it started to rain. It was awesome.

Pondering whether I can legitimately categorize Rosenfeld's as a business expense for tax purposes.

Gonna go with no, but that would be one sweet deduction.

It's local election day in New Hampshire, and @voting.works is powering elections in 40 towns. Up from 5 towns last year at this time. Exciting to get open-source voting machines to more and more Americans!

How does Germany count ballots so quickly by hand? Because this is their ballot. Two questions. That's it.

It takes longer for Germany to count than France, because in France it's *one* question.

We use machines to count in the US because we have 30, 40, 50, sometimes 80 questions per ballot.
