This is a long train at 9 cars, must have boosted capacity for the Easter weekend. In total there are 3 red service cars with 2 + 2 seating, 2 cafe cars, only one of which is serving food, 2 Red Premium cars with 1+2 seating, 1 luggage van and 1 power car.

On the plus side the seats in the red service carriage I'm sitting in are quite spacious and well padded. There's no power, however I noticed a few people using the power outlets in one of the cafe cars.

I decided to get up and go for a walk to get some food. The ride quality was really bad, almost fell over several times. I was following an elderly woman on the way back and she seemed to find the walk very difficult. It really was hard work.

Didn't lose my window. Have been traversing the plains of Western Victoria. We crossed a freight train at Berrybank and just passed Derrinallum and Mount Elephant.

Just arrived at North Shore we are only 1:45 late, could be closer to 2 hours by the time all these people get on. Also might lose my window seat as I was allocated an aisle.

Was hoping to go for a wander in Ararat, but I think I may have to hang around the station.

Slightly worried about my vline connection at Ararat back to Melbourne. We are running over 1.5 hours late because of a carriage failing a brake test and needing to be checked and then a trespasser on the tracks at Laverton.
