I also met again with @repgabevasquez.bsky.social to support the critical #publiclands projects he is sponsoring and championing.

I can't say enough good things about Congressman Vasquez and the work he is doing to protect our landscapes and provide community access.

And yet here we are again. They are under threat of tremendously destructive industrial expansion.

So we're back at it. Watch our newest short film:

Alaska is a place where we can still get it right.

And it all worked! The surveys were completed, the protections were restored. Cheers were had, happy tears were shed. What a tremendous victory.

28 million acres! That's about the size of Pennsylvania!

We released a short film about the village of Igiugig, and how the lifting of these protections would impact their traditional way of life.

This is a campaign we've worked on for years.

For almost 60 years, these lands have had successful management and protection. Those protections were stripped away little over 4 years ago. We worked closely with the DOI to advocate for environmental surveys, and restored protections.

Yeah, definitely sustainable now. Plenty of work still to do, and always will be but headed the right direction!

And one last amazing shout out for the people in the administration you've never heard of, the ones who are making this all happen without the glory or the fanfare. 😍

And of course Secretary of the Interior, the amazing Deb Haaland! What a champion for our public lands and heritage! ❤️

Let's add in @padilla.senate.gov, who introduced legislation to protect Chuckwalla and has championed it! 👏

We're also pretty fierce defenders of the older and more open internet. So with decentralization, I'd rather be an amazing community of photographers that works with the other broader communities. I don't want to lock every single person into our community like instagram. 🤷

but I don't think we're really an instagram replacement, and I don't think we want to be.

We'll always be somewhat niche. I don't think there are billions of people who love photography, and sharing that art. We've proven there are tens of millions, maybe hundreds. I'm okay with that.

If you love taking photos for the sake of taking and sharing photos, Flickr is a wonderful place. We're healthy, growing, and still beloved by the community.

We're also 1% For the Planet, Change Climate Certified, certified Great Place to Work, Certified Evergreen, all the cool stuff.

I have a few connections. 😆

It’s 1000 photos free at the free tier, which we can definitely debate. But I am a strong advocate for privacy, and hate heavy handed advertising. So I don’t see a dramatic shift in business model happening. Flickr is mildly profitable, sustainable for ever, and growing.
