The real Ben

An American living in France.
I've known of some fine Congressional Representatives in my lifetime.

Rep. Fine is not one of them. Not by a long shot.

Went to undergraduate school near Cincinnati.

I saw this show when it first aired -- it was my junior year.

An admittedly mediocre show that had a few episodes that absolutely excelled.

This was one of them. Probably the best of them.

Why would you have rocks on your roof?

Then I read things such as the homeowner/gun owner in an Indianapolis suburb who shot through his own front door and killed an unknown person knocking on it and who explained his actions because he was afraid they were trying to break in.

Afraid.

I don't know how many times on online forums I've had advocates of essentially unfettered firearm ownership tell me it's not because they're afraid of the world around them but because I don't realize how dangerous things are.

Right.

That's because they were idiots without any understanding of such things.

Or, as suggested below, because that was their objective.

Very common in France. Extremely common. Large grocery stores and butchers usually stock various types of poultry, beef, veal, pork, and lamb. Those are the big ones. In lesser quantities they'll have rabbits and horse. In freezer cases I've seen boar, zebra, and kangaroo.

I have a question for folks living in the U.S., since I haven't lived there since the Obama era: do the comments he's making comport with reality? To me, it seemed as if things were imperfect but overall in pretty decent shape during the Biden Administration, but I I'm curious what locals think.

"In till now?"
"In till now?"
What does that even mean?
No one here, except for lyin' Leavitt, is talking about legal orders.
The subject is illegal orders. And UCMJ is clear that illegal orders are not to be followed.
It's not vague.
It's not ambiguous.
It's clear.
She's lying.

Problem was the walls of the hospital were too thick for her cellphone signal to get through.
November 24, 2025 at 11:48 PM
We live in France. My wife had a several night stay in a hospital, with several tests and specialists in addition to her general practitioner, and owed a little less than one euro upon leaving; only because she called me on her private room phone to bring her some warmer socks.

And there is none cheaper, nor lower in value, than uttered by that tool.

Old?

Seriously, old?

She's a hell of a lot younger than you, you lying, ignorant, stupid convicted felon!

The Drogden Tunnel connects the suburbs of Copenhagen on the Danish side with the suburbs of Malmö on the Swedish side. Other than that there are ferries, but no contiguous land.
November 24, 2025 at 3:53 PM
I would suggest Denmark. The other three are contiguous with one another. You can walk from one to the other without using a boat or underwater tunnel.

Denmark, on the other hand, is contiguous with Germany and separated from Sweden by a narrow straight of the Baltic Sea.

Sorry Lutnick. I tend not to believe baldfaced, easily disprovable lies.

Perhaps you're thinking of Republican voters.

Funny that the countries that have the best healthcare results and much lower cost than in the U.S. have some kind of government-funded (at least partially) universal healthcare for its residents, including non-citizens.

What this ignorant idiot is suggesting is precisely the wrong idea.

It's a well for municipal water. There are several located in the alluvium along the Rhône/Vieux Rhône which is the route this person took (I rode the same path when I lived in Lyon).

If you want to see a WWII bunker head north. There are lots of them in Normandie and Hauts-de-France. One fallen:

While it’s difficult to conjure up much sympathy for a people who so overwhelmingly voted for a convicted felon to be President, what is Tyson’s rationale for this closure?

They went with plan "B" on labeling this.

Plan "A" was:
Blue title: Brainless Trump loyalists
Red title: Every other thinking person

And a close up for scale. The circle is a one euro coin (I know Northern Ireland uses pounds, but a euro was what I had in my pocket).

Diameter 23.25 mm.
November 22, 2025 at 3:14 PM
I don't think "plan on" quite captures it.

The extrajudicial murders of countless people on boats outside U.S. waters certainly qualifies as illegal orders.

It could be from Old Norse brekka, meaning slope. Or it could be Old Norse bryggja, meaning bridge, or Briki, a Norse surname.

The Norse did a lot to change history in Normandie, hence its name.
