Libs out here acting like Trump was behind the TikTok ban in the first place, totally ignorant on how the security state influences both parties. This was a bi partisan law signed by Biden. Calm down.

The president who pushed for this law, helped craft it, then signed it and defended it at the Supreme Court just days ago has regrets www.nbcnews.com/politics/joe...
I haven’t seen a thing in the governmental discourse around online platforms that addresses the fact that millions of people rely on these outlets for income. Politicians address social media and video sharing like traditional media outlets, not workplaces

I try to remind my clients that we engineer our product to be user friendly, and we want feedback from the people actually using the software. The vast majority of the time the actual workers are ready to adapt

Somebody’s says “we need to idiot proof this” during an implementation, basically calling their employees idiots. Just because you find learning hard doesn’t mean they do, boy-o

Part of my job as an implementation consultant is talking to high level stake holders and my number one red flag is when higher ups don’t trust their employees to learn new software.

When the ceasefire was announced we took in collective sighs of relief and grief. Although the violence of occupation may not be over, we are looking back over the past 466 days of genocide and mourning those who were killed, the fellow journalists targeted, the medics who died saving others.

Classic projection to be terrified of TikTok collecting personal information because that is what the US companies do. If you are American, your personal info is probably out there somewhere. If the Chinese government wants it, they are going to get no matter what app you are on

Nakedly, the opposition to TikTok is fueled by Meta’s lobbying of congress. Meta’s platforms are now the tried and true method for manufacturing consent and the proliferation of wedge issues. Meta is 100% an unofficial arm of the US security state.

Absolutely. The individual nation states have an alarming record. China is the only member that I think stands a chance at leadership. Xi’s comments about bolstering the “global south” is compelling. That phrase should pique the interest of most US leftists, I would imagine
I do want to see what a future of more economically empowered "middle powers" might bring to the world. The other shitty side of that is that this idea gives a lot of weight to India and Turkey, who I think deserve their own flurry of condemnation and criticism.
