He also strongly supported FDR's presidential bid. He was the first chair of the SEC. He put in place many reforms to stop market manipulation. He did succumb to scapegoating, but he wasn't an anti-semite like Henry Ford. He did support appeasement, but he wasn't alone in that mistake.
