I guess this would make you find Norse mythology more believable? There's tons of characters and family members to gods who sort of just hang out and chill, or party, or are just mentioned once as "oh yeah, this person exists too" and then never mentioned again. 😂

Oh! I meant humorous sarcasm. Because Rose is replying thinking you were being serious, lol. And it's fun to be humorously sarcastic.
I've met some pagans who seriously take the myths as literal over actual science so I wanted to clarify, just in case. I didn't think you were mocking, you're fine

This is wise, and something I encourage. I refused to believe in any gods until I personally had an experience with them.
I think people should default to being atheist. Spirituality isn't for everyone, and that's okay.

It doesn't have to be a contest or argument though. We can work together.

It's difficult to detect sarcasm over text-- but being honest, no that doesn't make more sense, but it is cool af to imagine! It's a poetic way of describing part of nature. Much like we might say "the sun is shy today" if there are clouds during the sunrise. It isn't literal, just fun to imagine.

You're right in that this isn't how evidence works. But please understand that evidence is meant to be paired with an argument.

I am not arguing that you *should* believe that gods exist. I am merely pointing out that this original post seems misinformed about the beliefs of deists.

Well, some of the old myths say that he was the main one who killed Ymir and formed the Earth from his body, and also was one of the 3 gods who made humans. But of course, we shouldn't take the myths literally! There's often a big difference between stories, and reality.
The myths are from humans.

I personally experienced evidence that I couldn't rationally explain as anything else but the existence of a god (in this case, Odin) being real and interacting with the physical world.

I'm not going to claim he created the world, or is all powerful, but he's a cool spirit who's helpful.

I was an atheist before, so I genuinely understand where you're coming from. Evidence is important, and so is logic.

As I try typing out this comment, I'm realizing the character limit is really much too short to explain all this. So I'm following this up with a second comment to sum it up.

Well, how so?

There's a character limit here, hut I can try my best to explain it in a way that'll hopefully make sense to you.

As a pagan, I wouldn't claim Earth is the gods' favorite planet. They just happen to hang out and help here, sometimes. Not super often. They have their own lives, their own stuff going on.

But I guess you weren't really thinking of pagans or non-abrahamic religious folks when you said "theists."
