My quick #januarty2026 scribbles. Day two "match" i just did some boring still lifes of pears.
Pencil drawing for januarty prompt fresh. Curtains blowing out an open window and another piece of fabric blowing in the wind Top image is for prompt tree. There is a loosely sketched tree in the background along with a park bench and in the foreground is the sketch of a person bundled up for cold weather, bent at the waist and pushing a shopping cart. There is a separate sketch on the bottom half of the sketchbook page for the prompt "down". Stairs descend through a hole, outlined in yellow highlighter.

Don't know if any of you have ever gotten these 'now vs then' Facebook post suggestions... They feel so confrontational. It's like "x years ago you accomplished this thing. What about now? Have you accomplished anything at all since then? You haven't posted. It's been all downhill since, hasn't it?"

QRP how you draw hands

These are actually old drawings. I haven't drawn any detailed hands recently I guess 🤔. I've been more focused on botanical and landscape type things.

some snippets of my written In-Progress stuff:
Snippet from "Illithia": Amnesty Cunning was not a stupid girl, not a stupid girl at all, and yet, as she looked up into the empty eye sockets of the half-faced witch standing behind her, stupid was exactly how she felt. She gasped as the witch’s long, cold finger bones wrapped themselves around her left wrist. Amnesty jumped back, twisting her arm free and kicking wildly at the figure's middle. She felt a bit of rib snap under the force of her slipper. The bone disintegrated as it fell, leaving behind nothing but dust. The Bone Witch lurched forward, pinning Amnesty against the tabletop. She breathed directly into Amnesty’s face. A sweet, putrid smelling breath that made Amnesty dizzy. “Fresssh skin! Fresssh bones! Liv-ing flesssh!” The creature hissed, “Mine! I will have you! I will wear you as my own!” Snippet from "The Dark Somewhere": “Stop!” the guard on the left shouted. Both guards stepped forward, pointing their electrified staffs at Ky. Two more guards exited from the tent to stand behind them. “Set down your weapons!” Ky sighed. “I already gave my knives to the douche bag at the door. All of them. I promise.” “Pat him down. Check him.” Lefty said to Righty. “I…” Righty hesitated. Ky could smell his terror. “Look, I’m kind of in a hurry so..” He pulled his shirt off over his head. “Hey!” the guards startled at his unexpected movement. “Chill. Chill. I’m making it easier, bozos.” He tossed his shirt to the side and unbuckled his pants. “Look. See?” In nothing but his faded gray boxer briefs, Ky held out his arms and spun slowly. “Where would I be hiding a weapon?” All four guards stared at his underwear. “Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Ky cursed and shoved those off as well. “There! Are you happy now?” The guards stood, mouth agape. Righty turned to Lefty, uncertain. “Unless you’re gonna fucking cavity search me!” Ky declared, kicking one leg out wide to the side, letting it all hang free. “Now move, dumb asses.” He stepped forward, pushing the dumbstruck guards to the side. Snippet from "The Thing About Storms": The thing about storms is you never really know when they’re going to strike. You can spend an entire day waiting for rain that never comes or you can get drenched within the hour. Sure, the weather people try to predict them. They put up brightly colored maps, pretend to be sure about what’s going to happen, but they never actually know. Storms go where they want to. They float along in the wind, up mountains and over seas. And then suddenly, when they’ve had enough, they just crack. When the sky breaks, you feel it. You hear it as the world above you divides in one bright, white, shattering thunder. Sometimes there’s static; sometimes your ears pop. Storms make themselves known. My mother was a storm. She drifted along like a pleasant little cloud with grandma for years. Then one day, she cracked. She turned into a hurricane. She sucked people up and spit them out. She wrecked homes, tore up fertile fields, and flooded the streets with whisky. When she was gone, she swept away most of grandma’s life and a lot of other peoples’ too. I was left behind in the wreckage. A crying toddler hiding in the cellar. That was when Grandma moved to Washington Street.

Backtracking to post my backlog. Here's Swamp, finally finished coloring it. I have Gothic on my desk waiting for me to finish coloring it and dragon, bovine, and broken are there half drawn, so I'll be posting in completely random order in addition to it being the wrong month 😜

Did this earlier in the day. I added detail compared to my last post and I actually started coloring it too after taking this picture. The coloring's not done yet. I'll finish tomorrow.
