Her 1992 performance of Medea is probably one of the best theatre performances I have ever seen. Breathtaking.

I love Sondheim but I hated this show. I don’t believe it would have made it to the stage without his name and I can’t believe this was a final finished product. And where were the friggin songs? (Never mind the plot). Rant over.

My dad’s favourite song. ❤️

This is amazing! My thirteen year old and I are up for giving it a go (once I figure out how to create a group). Thanks for sharing.

Aubergines and chicken thighs with a miso and honey marinade with a soy/honey lime dressing to finish. So delicious ( thanks Rukmini Iyer) - even got the youngest to revise his views on aubergine!

Bone-in thighs every time. That buttermilk brine was so good that the eldest dropped in the excess to the pan minus chicken and ate it like crisps. Chef’s dibs right?

You posted this link before and dear god, I tried it and it was magnificent. Every house with teenage boys needs this recipe.

And even as I wrote that last message I thought - oh heck what other groups lurk on fb bringing individuals with common interests together. Rather scary to imagine….

I am a member of both single parent groups and charity fundraising fb groups, all carefully monitored by dedicated volunteers and so useful for information sharing and connecting far flung individuals with common interests. So it pains me that I can’t see myself leaving FB for now.

These are inspiring. in particular can I applaud your use of the word gumption - I never hear it nowadays but my mother loved it (usually when describing others as having “not an ounce of gumption”). Glad you’ve got buckets of it!

It took so long to come to our screens…. It was an incredible piece of work - stayed with me for a long time.

To kill a mockingbird, Jane eyre, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet, Mansfield park, Pinter plays, Tony Harrison and Seamus Heaney poems, Brideshead Revisited, Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry, Of Mice and Men. That’s both across GCSE and A Level.

My twelve year old loved the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. It’s probably more suited to 14 plus but I have always found that letting him read slightly inappropriate books slightly ups the Andre (his school wouldn’t allow him to check them out of the library!)

And to add the Redstone press diary is just beautiful this year, with the theme of happiness….loving this photo

We had pork steak with a crème fraiche, cider vinegar and mustard sauce. I was totally prepared for disappointment as I usually cook it with cream and cider. But behold it was a tangy delight!

Kids are having sausages and mash which is filling me with envy. I’m having sausages with puy lentils, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes and a spinach side dish. Kids have apple crumble with custard for dessert.
