Lumines Arise is pretty much Tetris Effect 2, so it's automatically fantastic and other games wish it could be it. The marriage of soundtrack, artistic direction and gameplay is as incredibly solid as ever, even if the game did kinda kick my ass a fair bit

Skate Story can feel a bit pretentious at times, but the vibes with the soundtrack just make for such an immaculate and ethereal experience that makes it stand out compared to other skating games

Disney Illusion Island is pretty simplistic for a metroidvania, but I think that gets balanced out by just how charming the game is, and how good it looks in motion as you explore the world

I look forward to you wrecking my Steam wishlist further more in 2026

Have yourself a merry little Sigma

Keeper is a very pretty game with its art direction, but I think that's largely the highlight of an experience that's fine (heh), and doesn't feel like it fully escaped the intial impression I had on it

It's death by a thousand cuts, something that feels minor and obvious in cynical hindsight but on top of years of other headlines just has me like "yeah I don't even wanna bother anymore"

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond just doesn't have enough good in it to outweigh all the bad for me. Those elements I did like get taken down by some poor, aimless direction creating a game unsure of what it wants to be and leaves the rest worse off because of it

I think going for the plat in Ghost of Tsushima kinda lead to the game feeling a bit overstuffed for me, but going through the main story missions definitely had me feeling like it was a pretty solid experience at its core

Trails of Cold Steel II had a bunch of great payoffs from what Cold Steel 1 had setup, from the various character arcs to all the worldbuilding aspects, and I definitely appreciated the various different changes to how the game is structured (aside from the true final dungeon)

Ninja Gaiden 4 felt like a hella fun and satisfying evolution to the Ninja Gaiden combat formula, with some boss fights I absolutely loved fighting (and hated to see the other side of if I got them down quick). Makes me real happy to see Platinum has still got it in them

In direct contrast to the predecessors, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge left me flabbergasted by how terrible I found it. Throwing out a number of aspects from the prior games and throwing in a wide range of cheap difficulty spikes, as well as a laughable narrative taking itself too seriously

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black was some pure bloody fun. Having been eased into this gameplay with the first game, I cruised through this and had such a great time bringing down everything it wanted to throw at me. Appreciated the greater environmental variety here too

Sword of the Sea is a great vibes game, the haptic feedback through the dualsense alongside the general audiovisual experience made it fun to just zone out and mess around with the little combo system they've got going with it

Took me a few attempts to make my way through Aladdin Genesis since I messed up some of the tricky platforming sections within it, but it's nice to get through an iconic game from the Genesis. I can see where the love for it comes from with what it does for the hardware

Still need to go back to Hades 2 with the new ending update, but even with imperfect original ending, I still enjoyed it simply as it being more Hades, which I liked. Would be nice to see Supergiant do another game altogether at this point though

Typing of the Dead was pretty dang fun once I got the setup all done. As much as I was messing up typing in the only language I know, it was still a blast to experience, alongside the goofy charm of House of the Dead 2 being great as always

Viewfinder is a really cool sell, and it contains a bunch of satisfying execution with perspective and environmental manipulation. Unfortunately, the puzzles don't fully live to the potential, largely falling into either ones I'd solve instantly or ones I'd be dumbfounded at

I wasn't expecting to end up so lukewarm on Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, since I've enjoyed prior Borderlands games more, but I ended up on the other side feeling more relieved to be done. Bit of a shame
