In a year with stellar horror films, I left Bone Lake a bit disappointed.

Reviews make me feel like I missed something. Many praised the pacing, but I felt like it was a slog at times. Others commented that it was unique, but it felt very predictable to me.

Pretty solid 4.

Lurker might be my favorite movie of the year. It catered to my sensibilities.

Toxic Avenger was stupid (complimentary).

Dylan O’Brien impressed me in Twinless.

K-Pop: Demon Hunters really is that girl.

They don’t make 80’s cult classics anymore.
Should they? Undecided.

Fun watch!

When your bro’s lowkey toxic, but you keep him around because he’s talented.

All good films — from best to worst:
1) Boys Go To Jupiter: admired the artistic style / music integration.
2) Caught Stealing: very 90s, very NYC, very Aronofsky. Austin Butler was phenomenal.
3) The Roses: a bit uneven, but strong leads.
4) Ne Zha 2: All over the place, but some places were good.

A very uneven film w/ parts that REALLY worked and parts that left me scratching my head.

Can we bring Boys Go To Jupiter into the Animated Feature awards conversation? It’s a brilliantly offbeat indie film with unique animation and storytelling.

Honey Don’t has a lot of flair, but stumbles a bit in substance.

My feeling re: Cabaret are complicated… Liza was great!

Portrait of a Lady on Fire was phenomenal, start to finish.

I’m glad I was able to watch Highest 2 Lowest in theaters. Need to watch High to Low to better understand it.

Remember when Kirsten Dunst clocked her fellow panelists re: working w/ female directors?

"I think its up to us as actresses to give the opportunity to first-time directors. Most of those (women), it was their first time." [Sophia Coppola, Kate/Laura Mulleavy, Leslye Headland]

Did Dean Winters (The Allstate Mayhem guy) ruin anyone else's immersion in Highest 2 Lowest, or just me?

nw: Highest 2 Lowest at Alamo Drafthouse bc it’s not showing at AMC.

It’s a shame that it isn’t getting a broader theatrical release, but the blame isn’t on AMC. It’s on AppleTV+ for not guaranteeing an adequate release period. It goes to streaming two short weeks from now!

It’s a day late, but I got there.

The Naked Gun and Weapons were incredible theater-going experiences bt laughs and frights, it was great to do it with a crowd.

The Vast of Night is a simple, but effective sci-fi film. I recommend watching it.

Electrick Children, I’d skip.

Is it just me or is there's something off-putting about the camerawork in Wednesday: Season 2?

It's HEAVY on actors delivering their lines direct-to-camera and the lighting is... weirdly bright and sterile.

Not to mention, the whole Pugsley storyline comes across as Disney channel humor.

Strawberry Mansion had such a great first act that I wish it fully explored.

Together was a lot more palatable than I thought it’d be with a good storyline.

Oh, Hi lost me in Act I, but won me over by the end.

Fantastic Four was a simple Superhero movie that delivered exactly that.

I'll watch anything directed by Guillermo del Toro, Luca Guadagnino, Robert Eggers, or Yorgos Lanthimos.

Top 3: The Roses, Weapons, Caught Stealing
Excited: Toxic Avenger, Eden, Highest 2 Lowest
Meh/Unsure: Honey Don't, The Naked Gun, Bad Guys 2
Bottom 3: My Mother's Wedding, Americana, Freakier Friday

I don't have an informed opinion about the rest.
Which four films on this list are you most anticipating in August? 👀
