I toned down her proportions to make her more accessible to readers and because it's just easier to draw. I still kept them a little absurd for thematic reasons, however.
I think the safety gloves aid the chemistry theme, and contradict her bare legs well.

This design comes from Charlotte's backstory, post-mom-death but before she finds herself through makeovers. A change in appearance did a LOT for her mental health...

Charlotte dedicates herself to her faith and goes around spreading as much joy as possible
Charlotte is a very religious woman, and though she loves clown, she never thought herself worthy. But with her friends' encouragement, she gave it a try! :o)
