Exactly the same for me. Doesn’t mean I don’t constantly take them to task but it’s frustrating.

Like being told to take your life saving medication in the gross bathroom because needles make other people uncomfortable.

Thanks for the tip! I will look into it!

I, unfortunately, do too. Solidarity. He’s disgusting and I’m happy to have met someone (virtually) in my district that feels the same. I feel very alone most days

My immune system overreacted and attacked my beta cells and now I have a lifetime of autoimmune diseases. So train that immunity to attack what it needs to with vaccines

Standing in solidarity. My son is a light in this dark world and if they could have a fraction of an ounce of my son’s love, empathy and compassion the world would be an amazing place.

As a type 1 diabetic myself, is there any type of fundraiser support for this family? My fellow type 1 warriors like to help out families in these difficult situations and try to in anyway we can. Even if it’s just saying his name and remembering him as one of our own who will be greatly missed.

Cancelled two days ago and gave my monthly fees to our local NPR. Don’t forget about them!

Absolutely! I was told, in 1991, that a cure was only 5 years away and as a little kiddo that was tough to come to terms with the fact that it wasn’t. However, these promising breakthroughs do give me hope that, if they still tell kiddos, it may be true!

I went to the original post to see if there was any debate but, as a type 1, it would be hard to convince me to go on immunosuppressants. I, fortunately, can tell when I’m hypoglycemic and I have no complications after almost 34 years so I may not be the best to say. Promising, but still scary!

Took me far too long reading down to see someone say this. I assume you’re a fellow type 1? I was hoping to see some debate in the comments but you’re the first! Personally, I wouldn’t trade off my diabetes for immunosuppressants but it does say it’s lower than that of say a kidney transplant.

As a type 1 myself, every person that has type 1 has no insulin production capabilities. There are different types of diabetes that lead to type 1 (google if you’re interested to learn more). This seems to be geared to my fellow warriors that can’t tell they are having low blood sugar episodes.

Very valid concern which I share with you. I wish I knew.

As a person with type 1 diabetes for the last 33.5 years, this isn’t the first attack on those with chronic illnesses but it is the first time Ive seen this many people upset by it. Thanks for raising the awareness and all of us that need the protection of the ADA will continue to fight for our life

I always think about how ashamed Dr. Banting would be about insulin costs.

Fellow T1D! I realized during the pandemic that no one cares about people with chronic illnesses. It feels eugenics-y to get rid of us. Companies using us as cash cows and now the government straight up trying to murder us. Stay strong my friend!

I agree with what you’re saying. His campaigning was awesome and I think he did a great job. He continues to do a great job. If he had more than the little time they were given, he would’ve proven himself more. Let’s be honest, no VP nominee would have gotten her into office, unfortunately for us.

Fellow T1D here, diagnosed in ‘91. We all should have access to any kind of medical intervention needed. It’s a matter of life and death and everyone thinks we can change if we eat more veggies. I’m in full agreement with you that the CGM is the greatest tool we have. Keep fighting the good fight!

I love my Governor Walz but you’re right. He was the wrong choice. He had no name recognition and while he’s been doing amazing in Minnesota, people don’t care about us fly over states so they had no idea. Plus I don’t want him to leave us. He puts the “ope” in hope 🤗

I lol’ed at that

My governor too! Don’t forget “Elon Musk is a terrible president” - Tim Walz
