Her’s doesnt hit the same since she was written in for the plot of arcane that’s supposed to be open and closed from the start, while xin zhao was a character that always was kinda in the background for about 15 years then when they finally give him the spotlight they kick him off the cliff.

Would be less upsetting if they didnt do the same thing to viktor with arcane, and also had other characters died from the same kind of self sacrifice, or said dead characters are all unpopular from the start. Classic “wow you made me care/finally giving this guy a shot just to shoot him down”

They pretty much propped up Xin Zhao letting him spotlight for once in his many years of existence, made him relevant in the lore, gave him motion comics, model/splash art updates, then proceeded to let a darkin take over his body (essentially killing him) and said darkin a new playable character
