A minor sub-benefit of meditation practice is the ability to focus. I spent about 10 hrs working in front of the computer yesterday and barely noticed the time passing. I say "minor sub benefit" because that's nothing compared to waking up!

Just noticing the clenched jaw, the tension in the eyes, the tight muscles etc. and allowing them to relax
All day long, over and over again
Letting go of thoughts
Coming back to the present moment

Happiness and contentment are always now

It's been a long day. Just taking a moment to check in. Long slow exhalations calm the whole system. Dropping the thoughts and worries about what's coming and checking into the present moment. All's well when I drop the thinking and focus on the breath.

As soon as I woke up this morning, I stopped dreaming about the awful things that are likely coming our way and turned my attention to #metta.

I just spoke to a highly evolved meditation teacher and I could feel the love coming through the phone. The topic of the conversation was mundane, an interview to see if I can practice at her retreat center - but I am literally glowing.

It's helpful to bring awareness to sensations in the body. Simply observe whatever sensations are there without reacting to them - with equanimity. Pleasant or unpleasant doesn't matter - they are all just sensations. Love them all equally.

This is a path to freedom
