Unless Comet Lemmon brightens considerably in the next few days, it isn't going to be as visible (or spectacular), as Atlas in 2024, or Neowise in 2020

Unexpected clear sky tonight, and Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon was just high enough above the rooftops for a view. I could only see it as a faint object with 8x32 binoculars, and it proved a challenge for my bridge camera - this is the best I managed..

The clouds relented enough to give me a view of the eclipsed Moon

Tonight's conjunction of the Moon and the Pleaides/Seven Sisters star cluster, the respective brightness of both were a challenge, I went with overexposure of the Moon to get more of the stars...

A sequence of yesterday mornings partial eclipse, taking around 1h 55m from first to last contact here in South Oxfordshire; while we had largely clear skies, the odd clouds did make exposure and focus a bit of fun during the event.

A five planet evening thanks to better seeing - though I'm not sure how well Uranus in the 2nd image will survive upload compression...

Better visibility to the western horizon tonight..
More views of Mercury as it chases the Sun; Venus and Mercury; and a wide angle to include Jupiter and Mars, alongside unmistakable Orion.

Best clear sky of the week, so its four of the so-called parade of planets. Probably best viewed on a desktop, but here's: Mercury, Venus and Mercury, Jupiter (with Aldebaran and the Pleiades), and Mars (with Pollux and Castor).

A calm end to a lovely sunny Sunday, although lore suggests that winter has not finished yet...

Spring is springing, with the first crocuses flowering.

Clouds unexpectedly cleared enough for a view of the Moon and Mars conjunction, but a challenge to balance the respective brightness of the two...

That'll be our snow for this year...

Didn't manage to capture any meteors, so before the cirrus cloud and contrails affect views - a few images of Taurus, Orion, and Gemini, with Jupiter and Mars

Conjunction of the Moon and Venus as darkness fell, also Saturn up & left from the pair

The golden orb makes its weekly appearance in the sky, so time for a look at any flowers in the garden
December 29, 2024 at 12:28 PM
With no actual view of the SW horizon, the closest I can get to imaging sunset on our Winter Solstice day - at least the sky has cleared :)
December 21, 2024 at 4:05 PM
After 8 days of grey murk, gloom, and drizzle we have blue skies and a golden orb in the sky :)

Finally the cloud finally started to relent at 00:30, just as the aurora fired up again, and where the cloud was being illuminated from the red aurora behind - a very different ‘red sky at night’. As the cloud further broke, it felt as if I was photographing a vast nebula in my northeastern sky.

Northern Lights, before cloud arrived - hoping its going to clear again
