I enjoy walking up mountains and not actually watching the game
This is a bit obscure, I know, but something I've never figured out about Rebecca Solnit is how her nativism escapes scrutiny. She wrote a piece years ago about making a bunch of $ selling her house that is overtly anti-Asian.

It has been incredibly difficult to get a refund for these metal-infused granola bars. Manufacturer says to go deal with the merchant, merchants want nothing to do with it

Several batches of the popular granola bar brand MadeGood have been recalled by its parent company over concerns that the bars may contain metal fragments.

I mean, even if you ignore every other person on earth, Netanyahu openly wishes for violence on the diaspora and pushes Soros conspiracy theories, so I'd say it's a pretty significant threat
Antisemitism simply is not a significant threat in our society. It used to be, but it isn’t anymore, because our society has changed. There was a time fairly recently when I would’ve been discriminated against for being divorced from the father of my children. This never happens to me,

At this point, is there any reason to keep the Epstein story quiet just to protect Bill Clinton?

One of the most-baffling moments of this batshit campaign is Kamala saying she'd legalize weed on Oct 14 and got absolutely zero traction. The one thing she promised that's broadly popular and she did it in such a weird way (part of the 'black men crypto' package) that she got no mileage out of it

I've seen a lot of takes in the last week, but not too many that noted Biden personally kicked 25M people off Medicaid and fully bought in to raising rates to 5.5% to punish workers
tfw your post-election analysis is less “i told you so” and more “gosh i’m tired of saying this over and over but the truth is the pandemic matters”
In our latest, we discuss how so many election post-mortems are managing to avoid talking about Medicaid unwinding, the pandemic, Palestine, Biden ending the eviction moratorium, Biden ending expanded unemployment insurance, Biden endi

As @seangentille.bsky.social wrote so eloquently, 'Rudy' is an atrocious movie, and his story is not even remotely inspiring
What's some objectively minor hill you had committed to die on in the Before Times that you'll still die in defense of, dammit?

e.g., Dead Poets Society is a terrible movie to begin with and a deeply toxically terrible movie about teaching.

Hey @drewmagary.bsky.social @davidjroth.bsky.social, no Canadian wants another Canadian team to win. That would be like a Yankees fan getting excited about the Mets being in a World Series. Canadians are such haters, they'd be the Yankees fans rooting for the Sox in '86

7yo turned on the TV to watch NHL playoffs. All of a sudden, she's mad. "I only recognize one of these teams. What's going on here?" Ah, you somehow ended up watching the OHL.

So many people approvingly pass around Haidt's piece on cellphones causing anxiety in kids. Incredible he can be a complete hack and write yet another "kids these days" piece and liberals lap it up. San Francisco school board recall had a lot of Manhattan institute involvement and libs loved it too
Since we are STILL talking about the polarization "problem," a reminder: this was a deliberate push by Manhattan Institute at an event in 2017, via a big speech by Jonathan Haidt about its racist cousin "tribalism." Immediately spread to pundits, later sanitized into "polarization research" by $$$.

I asked my dad if he saw the geomagnetic storm last night. He said "I've seen enough northern lights." Kind of like a few years ago when I asked him if he wanted to go see Gordon Lightfoot and he said "nah, I already saw him in 1965"

Always a risk to post pictures of your meat online, but my 5th night seder brisket turned out pretty good after 72 hours in the sous vide and 3 hours in the convection oven

I swore I wouldn't put my daughter on a hockey team 60 miles away just so she could play with girls. Then I convinced myself it'll be fine for spring season. Now we'll be staying overnight multiple times (good news is we have relatives there) and I'll be behind the bench for a 2nd team

I have a friend from Edmonton who moved to the US and married a Jewish woman from New York. I asked if he ever noticed his kid looks like Zack Hyman. His response: "I don't know who that is, but my wife has a lot of explaining to do when she gets back from Passover."

@davidjroth.bsky.social, my family thinks I'm weird for generating this list of NHL expansion/team moves out of my head. What's your verdict?

@albertburneko.bsky.social @davidjroth.bsky.social nice obits for Sinema. I'm surprised neither of you mentioned her using govt funds so she could run half marathons. Or Mitt Romney's emotional affair with her

Can the phrase "we know this isn't the answer you are looking for" please be retired? It started with gig companies, spread into content moderation, and today my health insurer used it because their provider directory is inaccurate

Question for you @davidjroth.bsky.social. If my kid wants to be a goalie (any sport, but in this case hockey), have I failed as a parent? If so, where did I likely go wrong?
