It was a gorgeous fall day for #nokings in Bend! Due to work commitments I went a little later, thinking there would be people well into the evening like the last march. I missed the larger gathering, but I joined a small group at Peace Corner and had a nice stroll in Drake Park. #bendoregon #inbend

I've always loved starlings, even though they're invasive. They're in my yard right now (Oregon). Gorgeous. gregarious, silly. A fun read: "Arnie, the Darling Starling" about a captive raised bird who learned to talk. Not advocating for captivity unless you're a wildlife rehabber!

I met a real flat earther today at my food cart. He had a tiny pamphlet and everything. Wild.

I'm participating! No purchases by my household or small business tomorrow, except for supporting local small businesses with cash. (We hope people still visit our food cart tomorrow, but we understand if people choose to sit out the entire day.)

On a recent brisk fall morning, a great blue heron and a great egret perched on adjacent dead snags. They were sunbathing and preening; so peaceful to watch. The egret seemed restless. They were far enough out in the river that I had to zoom in quite a bit for this photo of the heron. 🪶 #birds
