Got this Whistle Pig barrel aged maple syrup for Christmas. Used it in place of simple syrup and made a fantastic-tasting whiskey sour.

On the 8th day of #BeerAdvent, I got this Russian doll package with a thankfully tiny beer inside. I’m not looking to polish off a 15% beer any bigger than this on a school night. 😂 😮💨 🍺 🎄

On the 6th day of #BeerAdvent, a rakau hop double IPA from The Answer. Cracked it and thought it was typical hazy Answer joooooose. More complex. Like someone burning down a fatty in an orchard of fruit bred to taste like lime, mango, and peach. A little astringency, typical of some hazy bois.🎄 🍺

On the 5th day of #BeerAdvent, a Solace Winterbock that’s dark brown with ruby highlights for you style nerds; malt sweetness and raisins abound. It’s not fooling nobody that it’s 8.2%. 🎄 🍺

On the 4th day of #BeerAdvent I have to me, a 3 Floyds Alpha Klaus. Claims to be Alpha King’s festive cousin, possibly half-cousin based on extreme SRM difference. 🤔 A dry hoppy porter gives way to chocolate and roastiness. Its dryness and drinkability belie its 7.3 abv. 🎄 🍺

On the first day of #BeerAdvent, a nice little 3.5 table saison from Anchorage with some oaky tannins, a hint of acidity, and some saison yeast character nicely balanced with phenols slightly beating out the esters. And a Sauvignon Blanc that’s like are those NZ gooseberries? Psyyyyche, I’m French!

2024 #BeerAdvent is set. Six dudes are assigned four dates and each contribute six of four different beers for their assigned dates. Plus six wines through the month for the wives (some of whom “help” with the beer). Beer #1 was a nice little Notch IPA to get things rolling. 🎄 🍺
