this REALLY ought to be the 'iconic visual' for the game IMO, it's not even loaded with spoilers if you don't know the significance of the scene

Pretty good start! If you like FPS (saying this cuz of Quake) check out Black. At the time it was lauded for its realism in gun handling, they supposedly took great care to make the guns look and sound very realistic

Not sure how it holds up today but I have fond memories

Ys is one of those series that is really neat on the surface but I never properly dove into. I think I might have played the remake of 1 and part of 2? there's just so many!

reminds me spiritually of the NES game Crystalis

yo thank you for reminding me about UFO 50, I bought it when it was new and totally forgot about it after playing it for one day

Awesome collection

To be fair, 10 years ago the Wii U was indeed not doing that well. But the 3DS and really the whole DS line, still, was going bonkers

Patapon! Disgaea 2! Definitely were my two most-played back in the day

Aw didn't know it wasn't optimized for Steam Deck, that's unfortunate. I played it a ton on Switch a few years back then picked it up on PC later

Never played Blue Revolver but Mushihimesama is excellent! Great choices

Vectorman (great platformer)
Phantasy Star 2 and 3 (Fun RPGs)
Comix Zone (interesting platformer/beat-em-up where you play in a comic book and navigate between the panels, full of 90s 'tude)
Shining Force (excellent SRPG)
Gain Ground (kind of defies genre explanation)
Golden Axe 1 and 2 (beat em up)

Shmups are great! What game are you playing?

I bounced off the genre and had fun, but never completed any, for decades- first one I truly sank time and repeat level playthroughs in was Jamestown+ which I highly recommend

I don't know who's gonna buy it, or the use case. It seems to me that PC gamers already have a gaming PC, and console gamers aren't gonna spend the money, but maybe I'm wrong- we saw this already with the initial Steam Machine launch years ago, but ofc the market's different today so we'll see

Latest update broke ExplorerPatcher too. I used it to put my taskbar on the side of the monitor, which our Microsoft overlords have deemed an unnecessary feature, even though it's been a feature since like Win95 or 98.

They push me closer and closer to trying Linux every day
