... for building nuclear, is hastily building a load of nuclear plants before going bankrupt and passing the clean up risk to the state a win for the public?

Doesn't the capacity to make nm scale chips take ages to bring online? Will the bubble be here long enough for the capacity to get built?

As for power, if it was putting in solar or wind that would be true. But they seem to be going for gas turbines and nuclear.

Putting aside the time scales...

... I heard somewhere that the chips used for "AI" are so optimised for the task they are useless for general computing or server use.
November 12, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Can the particular chips and servers used to build these "AI" data centers be used for anything else?

The fibre bubble resulted in lots of, at the time, redundant fibre, but a fibre can carry any data

If the data centers can only do "AI" they will be useless afterwards.

A fairly central part of thr culture was the ability of it's citizens to change gender almost at will and for that switch to be seen as perfectly normal.

Safe to say Musk missed that part whilst listening at 1. 25x speed.

They should apologise, re-edit the program to clarify the speech was edited but also emphasise the congressional reports finding that

"... the central cause of January 6th was one man, former President Donald Trump"

Then rescreen the show on BBC america to correct any misunderstanding

JRM seems very against misrepresentation of things for a man who misrepresented the reason for prorouging Parliament to the Queen.

Can it end...

"... Thank you for your attention to this matter"

Famously, the Nazis had terrible uniforms

"would you like lies with that?"

Tbf, they should scrap VED and move to a "per mile" tax for all cars.

Tax per mile defined by carbon emissions and weight (two things we want to reduce)

Miles are measured at MOT can be paid in installments over the next 12 months.

I told our youngest the upward arrow button (CD eject) on the dashboard was the button to convert the car to flying mode but it was broken so our car couldn't fly.

Several years later he still shouts at me to "fix the fly button!" and I question my choices every time.

Presumably because they were worried the gait change was rooted in some sort of brain issue?

The "counter" is actually a carved granite monolith.
October 25, 2025 at 6:09 PM
In my head, "populist" has always equated to "simplistic" - ie winning votes by making the world out to be simpler than it is and therefore an easy to digest solution without tradeoffs is the answer.

Therefore MAGA, Reform, Brexit are all populist.

I hope the greens resist the temptation

If your criteria for granting ILR/citizenship is "must contribute" - how the fuck do you define that and how can you judge someone's lifetime "contributions" (however defined) ahead of time?
October 24, 2025 at 7:45 AM
Presumably the solution is to accidentally drop your coffee over a drain, then put the cup in a bin, unless the council is going to police all spillages of liquids in a public place.

And I hear our pork exports to the middle east are underperfroming her expectations.

If only there were some cheese loving countries close to the UK.

Maybe Putin realised there isn't any way for him to get to Hungary without risking being shot down or forced down and arrested.
October 21, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Could you not view it as a tax.

For large developments there is often a need for planning to change the use of the land (eg from fields)

The granting of this permission by the Council results in a massive uplift in asset value - which the council doesn't get a cut of directly except via this link
