Angry white male
@beedunk177633.bsky.social
Pro-democracy, not left or right.
Dreaming of Liberty and Justice for all.
Looking for ways to empower Americans to restore democracy.
Anonymous because these are dangerous times.
And in a few years, they are even further behind.

It's obvious, but no one seems to be focusing on it. How many times have you heard Dem Party leadership, politicians, or randoms on social media saying this?
August 18, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Democratic Party "strategy" is single-mindedly focused on winning the next election. So they win occasional battles while losing the war.

So, the completely ignore places they don't think they can win in the next election, instead of building a movement that can win in a few years.
August 18, 2025 at 6:03 PM
They're don't have ears to the ground to hear what voters are really concerned about.
August 18, 2025 at 6:03 PM
Most state Democratic organizations are weak, and local ones hardly exist (they don't have any permanent funding).

It's no wonder they are out of touch with the concerns of most Americans! They only parachute into districts they think they can win a few months before elections.

Putin being an expert on "real democracy".

Trump can't do this. There are whole states that are mail-in only! If states ignore him, what is he going to do?
August 18, 2025 at 5:51 PM
So far as I know, it's really unclear whether mail-in voting helps Democrats or Republicans more. It probably depends on where you are.

In the past, Republican campaigns, even Trumps, have encouraged mail-in voting even while he was fighting it.

What a bunch of airheads.

The Democratic Party should set their sights higher than just having these voters not vote for Republicans in the next election. They should be trying to recruit them as long-term Democratic voters. The entire Republican Party condones targeting immigrants.

The party org isn't doing it, yet.

Christ, the U.S. justice system is slow! What serious question was there about his guilt?
May 16, 2025 at 3:55 PM
And someone with the ability to look into the future, such as an expert in the history of authoritarianism, could very well see the threat escalating. I, personally, have nagging concern that the U.S. could spiral down more quickly than it feels.

Avoiding arrest is a way to continue fighting.
May 16, 2025 at 3:54 PM
You distorted my point. My point was that his action may have been the most effective thing he could do, for the reasons I stated, and he is continuing to fight.

In other areas, the threat to most academics is not arrest or violence, but a lot may have their careers destroyed.
May 16, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Protests are needed, but some people can contribute more doing what they're especially good at.
May 16, 2025 at 12:59 AM
Isn't the PR "fighting"? Maybe he's doing the most effective thing he could do, given his background. I'd rather have someone successfully reaching large numbers of people with credible warnings of fascism than having the same person at a protest.
May 16, 2025 at 12:59 AM
Obviously, the publicity push is to emphasize that they, experts that they are, feel that the situation is very, very serious. Saying it is one thing, changing jobs and countries shows that they really are serious.

A lot of smart people don't seem concerned at all, yet.
So, I think it's helpful.
May 15, 2025 at 9:30 PM
I assumed most people who read my posts would figure out that I'm angry about other things, starting with theft of our democracy by an orange tyrant and his lickspittles.
May 15, 2025 at 9:13 PM
I actually agree that the marketing demographic "angry white men" of Fox-addicted conservatives who are mad about everything that Fox tells them to be mad about are a big part of the problem.
May 15, 2025 at 9:13 PM
If you're not angry these days, there's something wrong with you.

Or is your problem the "white man" part of my moniker?
May 15, 2025 at 9:10 PM
Follow-up: There seem to be a lot of bigger fools out there.

Or people know something the public doesn't about the government pumping a ton of money into Tesla.
May 15, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Trump did not say that unambiguously. And I haven't heard anything else to suggest that it's true.

I think Trump meant that Elon dumped a lot of campaign money in PA at the last minute, as he did several places.

Elections should be reformed to make fraud easier to prove or disprove.

Most people believe medical care is a right, not something that should be contingent on working.

We won't lack incentives to work in the U.S. if we have universal medical insurance.

Background: afdc = Aid for Families with Dependent Children. Program ended in 1996. People of a certain vintage, like me, will remember it is the "welfare" program that conservatives were always denouncing as supporting lazy people.
May 14, 2025 at 8:05 PM
Of course, there are other ways the Trump is hurting people, and we need to capitalize on those issues, too.
May 14, 2025 at 7:57 PM
My main complaint is with people whose message is "The election was stolen" implying that there's nothing we can do.

We can do a lot to defend voting rights, improve elections, build a much stronger Democratic party, and VOTE.
