I took a break from the world outside of my immediate view yesterday. I went outside, without my phone. Changed my oil, washed my cars, sat in the sunshine. It helped. It was just one day, just a few hours, but it helped.

He never stopped. Being in active addiction, and being so immeasurably out of his depth with regard to what the job requires, he won’t last 6 months in any capacity.

Somebody said something the other day that resonated with me. Thinking in terms of “the next 4 years” is overwhelming. Break it down as far as you need to be manageable. Right down to “do the next right thing.” One day at a time saved my life when I got sober. It may save our sanity now ❤️
