Reader, writer, artist, ponderer, recovering academic, off gridder in Tres Piedras NM. She/her.
I like books and rocks and trees and bugs.
Fascinated by textures and oddities and weird juxtapositions.

Not a fan of fascism.
I’m tea-dying paper today. Rice, mulberry, wet strength tissue papers, in rooibos tea. Smells delicious.

Honesty & awareness of the past are how we move forward, not patriotism based on false myths & erasure. I’m ashamed I didn’t learn the truth about Columbus, his missions & actions until I did independent reading while I was in graduate school.

Experimenting with new techniques for mixed media art. I photographed these flowers, converted to grayscale, & printed on wet strength tissue paper. Then I adhered it to a gessoed panel. The paper disappears into the background, leaving the flower and revealing whatever is underneath the tissue.

Got pallets. Going to cut them in half and use them to shelter the bushes I just planted over the winter.

We’ve got wood. Not yet stacked and covered. Still no fire needed in the wood stove. This year the company I usually order from delivered some crap stuff mixed in. I called, they’re going to make it right by delivering an extra cord. Excellent customer service! Allpine Lumber in La Jara, CO.

Storm seen from a distance. I love the open landscape that allows weather phenomena to be seen as they move across the land. ❤️NM.

Quintessential NM: coyotes left a scat message to our dogs on top of a tumbleweed at the driveway end. Coyotes and roaming dogs in our neighborhood have corners where they leave notices to all the others. The end of our driveway is one of those communication centers. Sky duly urinated on top of it.

I love the light in the early evenings in the Fall here in northern New Mexico. Today there were thunderstorms all around but they never hit here. No rain, just distant thunder.

Digging through stuff and found this. Forgot I made it. Such a peculiar thing to come across something you wrote or made or forgot about. It’s like another version of your self made it.

I often save business envelopes that I receive for collage fodder. The pattern inside this envelope was beautiful.
