Kill Creatures by Rory Power. Really compelling. It kept me up until 12.45am, which unfortunately coincided with my cat not getting the Bank Holiday memo and deciding today should start at 6.30am 🥱

Spent a wonderful week on a course/retreat at Tŷ Newydd Writer's Centre in North Wales, studying writing for YA. Learnt so much from my tutors and feel utterly inspired by both them and my lovely course buddies. Can't wait to get #writing this weekend.
Through black metal gates and beyond trees and bushes, a white two storey building in the distance, the trims of the windows and front door are turquoise. Front door in the centre, two portrait rectangle windows evenly spaced either side of it, five windows all evenly spaced on the second storey and one window centrally placed embedded in the slate roof. Imagine it's like that time at the Oscars where the wrong name was read out as the winner - imagine if someone puts the wrong colour chemicals in the chimney and then some embarrassed Cardinal has to run outside and explain.

Coffee, a good book, fresh nails: a good kind of Monday.

In her own way, Phoebe is more helpful and supportive than the other human who lives in this house and does actually also use the fridge freezer. Of course, Phoebe's motives are probably food-related...
