It's #BlackHistoryMonth, so as with yesterday, here's a post to explore another unit within the National Park System devoted to the historical contributions and accomplishments of African Americans: The Booker T. Washington National Monument in Virginia.

It's #BlackHistoryMonth . DYK there are units of the National Park System in the U.S. that memorialize and celebrate African Americans, their history, legacy, struggles and accomplishments?

Good morning, Butterflies. It's the day after Thanksgiving - busiest shopping day of the year. Having already purchased and wrapped my Christmas gifts to others, I'm feeling pleased and proud, so how about a lovely landscape image I captured at Yellowstone National Park to start the day.

It's #triviatuesday Butterflies. DYK Hawaii's volcanoes erupt two principal types of basaltic lava flows: ʻAʻā (chunky lava) and Pāhoehoe (smooth, ropy lava). Looking at this photo, can you guess which is which?

Mornin' Butterflies! How about a lovely little image captured during my visit to Badlands National Park in South Dakota. I used a telephoto lens for this. Who says telephotos are only good for wildlife and sports? They create nice landscape shots, too.

How about a lovely Dantes View sunrise at Death Valley National Park in California. This is not looking toward the valley, but rather looking behind me at this overlook. Sometimes, it pays to look behind, rather than in front of you.
