🌿 Go Green 2025 was a huge success! The attendance was double that in previous year for the annual Environmental Fair at the Powell Community Center in Mission. Many opportunities to learn about sustainability, recycling, native plants, and more — plus giveaways and fun for all ages!

Kansas City is less than a year away from hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the first match scheduled for June 16, 2026. The city will host a total of six matches, including a quarter-final. KC2026 hosted a press conference that JOCO Commissioners were invited too.

Yesterday - I toured our Juvenile Detention Center and our Juvenile Intake Center which provides resources and services to justice involved children and youth in our county I am so proud of the work of our community corrections staff who work closely with our mental health center to support youth.

We are fired up and ready to stand up for Medicaid! Today I spoke out and joined hundreds of Kansans at a Medicaid Expansion rally in the Kansas Capitol Rotunda. Meanwhile Congress is considering 880 billion dollar cut to Medicaid services. #ProtectMedicaid #ExpandMedicaid

The program using federal COVID Relief funds has successfully brought together tenants and landlords to work together to create an agreement. 81 percent of these families have no prior evictions. The vast majority are working poor making less than $30,000 each year with minor children.

I was proud to receive the "Excellence in Community Services Award" from United Community Services for bringing forth this brand new Eviction Meditation Program to JOCO that now has prevented around 400 individuals from homelessness. The majority being single female-headed families with children.

Project 10-20 -JoCo's only winter shelter opens soon! 🏠I was so inspired by the incredible individuals and groups who come together to support our community's only winter shelter. From collecting items to serving meals. Thank you to all the volunteers for creating a place of hope! ❤️

I toured the newly opened 72-Bed Mental Wellness Campus in Olathe that will serve youth and adults. Children’s Mercy and Camber Mental Health 72-bed hospital will help meet the growing demand for inpatient pediatric and adult mental health treatment with serving 3,400 clients each year.

Today I toured Project 10/20 cold weather homeless shelter in Lenexa. Thank you to the many volunteers who provide life saving support and services to our unhoused neighbors in Joco.
