If everyone was cash pay and they didn't rely on research grants, I'm sure they'd give the whole administration the finger. But that's not how it works. We need to have realistic expectations unless we can afford to step in and fill the financial gaps for colleges.

Yes this is awful but please stop blaming colleges worried about becoming targets. They have a lot of title IV aid kids who can't go to college without those funds. Those kids want to graduate too.

If they can't participate in federal financial aid programs, the only people who lose are the poor kids. Kids like the one I was.

You have to look at it from the school's perspective too. Cheetoh boy is vindictive. What happens to their low EFC students if they lose eligibility for title IV finding? I was one of those kids who depended on pell grant and Stafford loans.

If that is what your family enjoys, you should go and have a nice time. Everything sucks right now. If you have kids and they are still at the age where they think you're lots of fun, don't miss out on that just because of how shitty our country is. No guarantees it'll be better in 4 years. 🤷🏻♀️

International students will be leaving too. They typically pay quite a bit in tuition. I'm sure that strong international programs are moneymakers. Yet another loss.

Yup. Here in our area the funding helped pay for two CHW's community health workers. They do a multitude of things ranging from making good deliveries to the elderly to helping people get to Dr appointments to working at the local warming shelter. Started out with $$ from VDH thru CDC covid funds. 1

Thank you. I'm 3rd generation American. My great grandpa was last child born in Italy. I have more in common with the folks crossing the border now than I do with the ones who have been here for so long they don't even know how their families got to the US.

So many times my migraines were a "preexisting condition" and I could not afford the $100-a-pop Imitrex shots I needed. 😞 (Many years ago.)
Not life threatening, just miserable. Imagine walking around with a migraine for days when there was something available to fix the problem, just out of reach.

I think I really underestimated how much misogyny still exists, even among gen x. I remember a time when I thought that was impossible. Kamala wouldn't have won even if she was a white woman. Even though she's the same age as many of us and could relate. A lot of women don't trust women. Wtf???

Am I remembering correctly that mRNA drugs have been used to treat AIDS patients? Look at how miraculously successful those drugs have been. Wouldn't we know by now if they were dangerous? Been around for a while; a lot of us just didn't know about mRNA until COVID happened.
