Read it. Borrow it from your local library. Buy it from a local bookstore. Just read it.

Especially if you, like me, are white.

3 cortisone shots in one hand and 2 in the other because you're stubborn and don't go to the doctor right away when you get trigger finger in one finger on the first hand and then you end up getting it in 4 more fingers

Update on reading Homegoing:
I've got less than 100 pages left. I keep reaching to read it and I'm so worried about how it will end. There is so much horror, beauty, and sadness in this book, for these families.
I want a Happy Ending.
I want it with all my heart.
I don't know if they'll get it.

@bigesqbae.bsky.social told me to read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi so I borrowed it from my library. The writing is beautiful and gut wrenching and I'm traveling through time while I'm reading.

I'm about 1/2 of the way through. I've had it in my possession for 12 hours.

I spend a part of most nights sleeping/being awake/reading next to my 11yo's bed.

I am always tired.

I haven't consistently slept well since having children 24 years ago.

A Fight:

Me: I promise you we're all just kids. No one shows up at any point and gives you a magical book titled "How to be a Grown Person". You just have to try to make the right choices and learn from it when you make the wrong ones.

11yo: So does 13yo get to shower first or do I?

Me: ...what?

I know I pre-ordered this book like 8 months ago or whatever and it feels like I've been waiting for it forever... but I'm gonna go ahead and re-read this 7 book series I've already read twice this year.
There's too much going on right now for 📚new book📚

I will not stop 💸buying them though💸
