Just finished Frontlines: Evolution Corvus by @markokloos.bsky.social. This was a fun reboot of the original Frontlines novels with a familiar military SF structure but a fresh perspective. The events of Scorpio loom large in Alex’s decision making and her trials here are fast-paced and exciting…

Thrilled to win a giveaway from @markokloos.bsky.social to check out the second of his Frontlines: Evolution series - Corvus. Book one, Scorpio, introduced us to teenager Alex as she fought to survive after aliens destroyed her colony - a fresh take on Kloos’ excellent Frontlines universe.

Just finished The Wager by David Grann. He weaves a compelling narrative of men taken beyond their limits and the dueling histories created by those same people. I kept thinking about Piers Paul Read’s Alive as I read Grann’s story.

Just finished Generation Ship by Michael Mammay. Animal Farm (minus the satire) meets space colonization. This has a different feel from his previous work, but in a good way. We experience the political machinations of a broad range of characters as they finally approach their long term goal.

Just finished Starter Villain by @scalzi.com - Scalzi has Scalzied and I enjoyed every minute. It’s a book filled with snark, jerks receiving their comeuppance, and tropes tilted on their head. Check it out if you need a breezy read that will keep you chuckling.

Just finished The Icarus Plot by Timothy Zahn. The plot(s) are fun, twisty, and carried forward at speed. This is a loose, not quite sequel to Zahn’s 1999 novel, The Icarus Hunt. You don’t need to read it, but I’d recommend it. Several old characters and plot points reappear.

Just finished The Shattered Skies by @birmo.bsky.social and eagerly await book 3 of the series. This is rollicking multi-POV space opera at its best. If there's a character type you love, he's shoved it in here and made them bounce off each other in the best of ways. Check it out!

Enjoyed an evening with @scalzi.com and his dramatic interpretation of Wil Wheaton’s demise. Excited for the future of the ever-expanding Scalzi-verse!
