I'm working to get 1000 LGBT+ books out to PFLAG chapters all over the country. They are going to LGBT youth - I don't need to tell folks how rough it is now for queer youth in red states. We have more resilience when we see ourselves in stories.

Riffing, I asked Chat GPT to create an inner life for me. The final line of a lengthy discourse: "Would you like a personalized ritual, meditation, journaling prompts, or even a fictional inner world you can retreat into? I can help build any of that with you."

Someone I've been friends with for years decided to tell me out loud that my spouse is more likable than I am. I've hosted this person at multiple dinners in my home.
Do I even need to say this is a man?

I totally get that everyone is afraid right now, and also -- that's their goal. When we're rooted in fear, we can't plan, we freeze up, we can't innovate or create or connect.

Sidenote, as a person with abandonment fears, hearing my friends talk about leaving the country is also scary.

I LOVE MY TRANS FAMILY.

I can't believe we are still sitting having to repeat the obvious truth that trans women are women. Everyone deserves to be safe living their beautiful truths.
My fellow cis women - do you think we are safe if trans women aren't?

Feels like a great time remind people of a core truth:

PEOPLE ARE NOT THEIR GOVERNMENT

Do not penalize artists, authors, activists, small business owners and LGBTQ+ people for the actions of their falsely elected leaders. Not here, not in Russia, not in Iran, not in Palestine, not in Israel.

I can't think of a single fellow Jew gullible enough to believe that the GOP gives a damn about us. They're setting Jews up to be scapegoated.
71% of Jews voted for Harris, vs 57% of whites voted for Trmp. Jews make up .2% of the world population, but 1% of world's immigrants.

I was so distressed that I forgot to add avocado to my salad. If that's not a California stress indicator I don't know what is. #avocado

I am putting together a panel about the transformative power of fiction and just had the best chat with a researcher from Stanford about how books make us and society more resilient and connected. I'm very excited about this.

Never did 23andMe because my family is crazy and I fear finding more relatives.

I just got back from Saints and Sinners, an LGBT literary festival in New Orleans. I was honored to be able to present there on the importance of having queer books in a community. Stories bring us together and make us better as a society.

Books bans are a symptom of fascism.
That said, I don't use banned book lists as a list of what to read because I don't let fascists tell me what books should be on my nightstand.
Fascists don't know how to read.

Books Not Bans has now sent over 2200 LGBT books. We've sent them to US states where access to queer content is difficult to access and highly restricted. I'm very, very proud of this. Please join this effort. Let me know if your bookstore would like to participate. #bookstagram

Susan Stryker should be mandatory reading and her book Transgender History should be on every single bookshelf.

Last night Books Not Bans packed up over 1100 books to ship out to queer community groups around America.

50) people in SF came to help out and dance and be together in community and show up for the most marginalized LGBT people.

I'm SUPER proud of this little nonprofit I started.

I have been saying for YEARS that homophobia and trans hating garbage has been driven by insecure jerks who are afraid of a world not driven by traditional gender roles.
I just want to get high, listen to dad rock and not do my hair. Leave me in peace to act like a depressed teenage boy. #gender

The Oscars in LA are like the big game day. I like to go in with my favorites picked so I can be disappointed later and yell at the screen like sports fans do when their team does something stupid.
Cramming to catch up on my viewing - Have to see Conclave, Nickel Boys, Emilia Perez, all the shorts.
