Technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TfGBV), often facilitated through surveillance, posed a growing threat to women and LGBTI activists in countries around the world, including Thailand, Uganda and Yemen.

On spyware, the report documents use and abuse in countries such as Colombia, Indonesia, India, Madagascar, Serbia and Togo. It highlights challenges and progress as a result of investigations, court cases and legislation in Hungary, Austria, Greece, the UK, Spain, Thailand and Poland.

We’ve seen widespread use of surveillance technologies, like spyware, facial recognition tech and drones, new digital threats such as the abuse of online ad tracking, new AI tech entrenching inequalities in the public sector, and rampant digital gender-based violence.
